In our final great outreach project that spanned the summer, the University of Delaware iGEM Team mentored multiple sophomore students at the Charter School of Wilmington in Wilmington, Delaware on their junior research projects. Their projects included: The effect of sound waves on E. coli growth, Testing various common acne treatments and their effects on the facial microbiome, and a pGLO plasmid transformation efficiency in varying conditions.I It was an amazing time working with such motivated and great young scientists and we are even more excited to announce that a few of these students are interested in starting a High School iGEM team as well!
The University of Delaware iGEM team will begin working with the CSW team throughout this fall for training, recruitment, as well as obtaining resources (such as funding, lab space, and a primary advisor). We hope to see the CSW Juniors and Sophomores at the Fall 2019 Jamboree with our joint collaboration!
