The iGEM Program provides students with a novel experience found nowhere else on campus. As part of an iGEM team, a member joins an interdisciplinary group students working with every aspect of research from the planning, designing, and evening product marketing! The group is undergraduate led with supporting graduate students and Professors as advisors. Join one of the over 320 teams worldwide competing and collaborating in one of the largest synthetic biology movements globally.

Our Story

iGEM at UD began during the Spring of 2016, when graduate students Sam Keating and Adam Faranda put together a team of undergraduate students for the first ever iGEM team at the University of Delaware. Following that summer the undergraduates, led by Sarah Wenyon and Ioannis (Yianni) Zerefos, recruited new members, taught them the basics of research with the rest of the team, and began the process of making iGEM a permanent resident within the UD and Delaware community. The motivation of our members has allowed us to manage our team, research, outreach, and sponsors in order to continue our program. One year later and we were well on our way. We can't wait to see what future generations of Delaware iGEMers will bring to the field!
